When I first moved to Yreka there was a short period of a disappointing realization that there were very few places to shop or eat, downtown was kind of barren and the parks were… well, let’s just say, it’s pretty tough coming from living a few blocks from Lithia Park to Yreka. Anyways a short time after realizing all of that I visited the Siskiyou County Museum and my hope was renewed for Yreka and my new home. The museum was clean, well organized, and more than just a little interesting. I really dug it! I was very impressed with what this kooky small town was concealing in that plain building that sits on Main St. and now I know who’s behind it all - Yreka’s newest Citizen of the Year, Michael Hendryx.
Nice work Michael! I am looking forward to bringing my reading audience a taste of our museum someday soon. It truly deserves the attention. And from all the kind words that were shared at the banquet on Wednesday it sounds like Michael Hendryx is truly deserving of the honor he received.
