Silver Spoon

A new restaurant opened in Yreka a while back. Jan Johnson opened Silver Spoon as an expansion of her catering business. Silver Spoon is a Wine and Tapas Bar. “What is a Tapas bar?”, you may ask. It’s basically ala carte dishes or appetizers. The idea is that you order several tapas and everyone shares. I have to admit that the concept seems to be a bit elusive for Yreka, especially for the guys who are used to a platter of meat, potatoes and a token serving of vegetables. The banter goes something like this:

Him: “So, if I order the tri tip, what comes with it?”

Her: “Nothing. It’s tapas. You just get the tri tip. You can order something else too if you like.”

Him: “But doesn’t it come with anything!?”

Her: “No. It’s a tapas thing. You order each thing separately.”

Him: “I don’t get it. Can’t I get a baked potato with it?”

Her: “Um, no. It’s just the tri tip. You can order more than one thing though.”

Him: “I don’t get it.”

Ok ladies, just so you know, lunch is a lot less confusing. I had lunch with a friend the other day and it was super yummy and super easy!! We sat outside which is really nice! You must try it before the cold weather gets here!

We both ordered one of the specials. Lisa had the Thai Lettuce Wrap (very healthy!) and I had the Beef Tenderloin Panini (scrumptious!) . Even though they weren’t tapas items we could easily share, which was even more fun!

Silver Spoon may not be the ‘manliest’ restaurant in town, but the food is superb! Once your guy gets past the ordering process they really will love the food. Silver Spoon prides themselves on using local, organic ingredients.

The other cool thing about Silver Spoon is that the walls and decor are always changing. The ambiance is great and you can always look forward to seeing something new from one of our many Siskiyou County artists.

The whole ‘Tapas Bar in Yreka’ thing makes me think of my high school English teacher who used to say to us, “you need to expand your pitifully narrow horizons!”

Ok, Yreka, give it a shot!

Oh tapas rocks! And who says it’s not manly? You order lamb and goat and beef and potatoes and fish and… and slosh it all down with loads of red wine or sangria. Happy to hear it’s in Yreka. We’ll have to make the trip up.

Cool Dave, happy to know there are some men out there that get the idea! My husband really likes their food too. His favorite is the Portabella mushroom pizza!

We will have to go and try it out sometime… we have tried before, but they seem to always be closed! Doesn’t anyone eat on Mondays or Tuesdays??? If they only had better hours…

That is fantastic. Tapas in Yreka! Makes me want to move back. I love your web site!
