Yreka Holiday Parade Highlights

Ahhhh “THE Holidays” - family, fun, food…… and in Yreka - the parade!

My ‘rents came for a visit this holiday! (‘rents n 1. One who begets, gives birth to, or nurtures and raises a child; a father or mother. 2. An ancestor; a progenitor. 3. An organism that produces or generates offspring. 4. A guardian; a protector. 5. One who pays for your room and board as you drink beer every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night at college: )

So I took them to see the parade last Saturday - small town entertainment at its best!! We grabbed a couple folding chairs, grandma, the kid, a couple cushions and headed downtown. Found a great spot in the sun and not too crowded. Here’s a tip for someone out there with a little entrepreneurial spirit - this would be a great venue to sell coffee and donuts from a little wagon - ka-ching baby!! Someone please do this next year!

Nice parade - here’s just a snippet of the highlights. Loved the unicycle!

I do have one gripe - What was the deal with that Santa at the end of the parade?!? Are you flipping kidding me?! I was ready to hop up on the sleigh, pull off the guy’s beard and tell him to just get down and go home!! And where was Mrs Clause?! I’ll tell you where she was! She stayed home because she refused to be seen in public with Santa!! Santa could have been an advertisement for Slimfast or Club Med! How about a little beard glue, some white out on the eyebrows and a pillow or two next time? Oh and just a little “jolliness” wouldn’t hurt! Ok ok, enough Santa bashing…. We really love you, Santa.

Santa will be downtown Yreka this Friday, December 5th for the Night of Lights - so head on down. I’ll be there pleading for forgiveness and promising lots of EXTRA cookies! Lots and lots of extra cookies - maybe even a ham:)!! The festivities begin at 5:30pm.

Ho Ho Ho:)
